There will be no Africa tomorrow

An african woman crying

There will be no Africa, tomorrow

If we do not change

I am an African and proud to be.

I see the tears and cries of men and women struggling to flee Africa to Europe.

In planes they fly, in boats, they row, through Libya, they travail the desert.

Some die in the sea, some die in the desert, some die upon arrival.

Those who make it long for a return…

A return to a land of freedom, a land of chaos, a land of love, a land of spirituality,  and a land for survivors.

Those, who make it…

Long for the sunshine, long for the quarrels, long for the misunderstandings between family and neighbours

Those who make it…

Walking in the freezing cold during winter …

Long for drop offs by neighbours and strangers.

The love in Africa, the heat and sunshine make our hearts radiate with passion.

That of love and of hate…

That of salvation and of destruction…

We save and destroy with our own hands.

Those who make it wish that the structures in Africa could be made better,

For, if it could be,

Europe would have been deserted.

Nobody would have dreamed to travel,

Nobody would be excited to have a foreign number on the phone,

Been to’s would have returned.

But Africa, our only true home is bleeding…

From coup d’états to coup d’états

From cases of corruption to one man governments.

How can the been to’s return?

When it seems all hope is lost.

Would we forever be the disadvantaged continent?

Would we forever keep kidnapping people, ousting out governments?

Stories of Jihadist and armed men shooting and throwing bombs and taking over villages

In this modernized era, it is a shame

Are our leaders telling us they have no power to make things right?

That the future is blurry and a hopeless one…

Yet,

Yet

Yet, we can steal billions of dollars and go around borrowing same billions to make things right?

Yet, these billions would still be stolen…

Would we forever put African on ransom till Africa is no longer Africa?

Would we forever paint Africa black just to get grants and loans to manage the economy?

When would our leaders be selfless?

When would our leaders not just the president,

But all who have pledged allegiance to the African continent,

Not for once think of the goodies but the commitment and devotion to make Africa independent?

Every country has its but, however, Africa is misbehaving

Any country that stresses on its weakness to be pitied and favoured

Is bound to be doomed.

For in your weakness, would you be subdued.

We hope for the African continent to restrategise and not continue to live a ragged life

For be it a human or an institution that refuses to invest in itself, it would surely have to live off on others.

Africa has it all, those who have been, know the truth.

Those who lead us, know the truth,

That the African continent is a strong force to reckon with if systems and structures are put in place like in Europe

The question is : “why wager this promising continent on a silver platter?”

Our roots will always be our roots

Let this generation not destroy nor wager our continent for Jacobs’s venison.

For there will be no Africa, tomorrow

If we do.
