The strike by the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana has begun to bite at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Most of the offices within the administration block of the University were deserted, Wednesday May 19.
Some offices were locked impacting on administration work.

Few workers who defied the strike directive to go to their various offices were forced to return home by a taskforce instituted by the Association to enforce compliance.
The taskforce moved from office to office to ensure full complaince of the industrial action.

“We are fighting for a common goal and for that matter every member of the Association with the exception of essential workers must join the fight by staying home.
We are determined to make sure that every member remain home until government address our concerns. If you come to work, you are breaching the National Executive Council directive, and this will come with some form of punishment”, KNUST branch secretary of the Association, Kwadwo Bediako Baryeh cautioned.
Leadership of the Association warned essential workers including the security, hospital staff, fire service, and the university’s basic school staff will also lay down their tools effective Monday May 24 if government does not respond to their demands positively by Friday May 21.
