Shea butter is oil extracted from the Shea tree. In Ghana, the oil is extracted manually and so, one needs to ensure its extraction was done under hygenic conditions before buying for consumption. It could be yellow or white in colour.

In Africa, Ghana to be precise, it is used to treat a number of illnesses. However, in most countries, it is used for cosmetic purposes.

It is mostly produced and used by the people in the north of Ghana.

It is a good source of replacement for other oils in the market since red flags have been raised concerning the consumption of refined oils in the market.

It would be interesting to see a lot of research conducted on our local oil to bring out the various properties it entails so that a lot of the citizenry will adopt its use.
