Nurses To Sign Agreement Today, Tuesday 03: No Strike For 2yrs

GRNMA and it’s allied bodies have resolved not to go on strike for the next two years.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) are expected to sign the collective bargaining agreement today,  Tuesday, November 3 after reaching a consensus with government and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.

This agreement will be duly submitted to the NLC on Wednesday.

The nurses embarked on a strike in September dmanding better conditions of service including rent allowance.

They were, however, persuaded to return to the negotiation table.

Ms Ofori-Ampofo claims  that not all their demands have been met but they will hold on and sign the agreement.

She claimed 9 issues were tabled before National Labour Commission. However they have been able to attain some. And will wait to fight another day.

She said none of her members will go on strike for the next two years.

“At this moment, no, we don’t intend to withdraw our services. Like I said by next week the agreement will be signed. We will find a way of sharing it with our members and then we will continue with our service to the nation and we have the opportunity to negotiate in two years’ time and take advantage of that and make proposals that we hope the employer will look at and cons
