GCB Board Appoints New Manager: Read To Find Out Who He Is

The Board of G.C.B. Bank Limited has appointed John Kofi Adomakoh as the new Managing Director (MD) of the Bank (Ghana Commercial Bank) effective November 9, 2020.

Mr. Adomakoh is an astute banker who replaces Mr. Anselm Ray Sowah. Mr. Anselm Ray Sowah tenure ended in September this year after more than three years in that position.

Before Mr. John Kofi Adomako’s appointment, he was the Director & Global Head, Project and Asset-Based Finance of the African Export-Import Bank headquartered based in Cairo.

He brings on board over 25 years of banking experience within Africa. Most  have been at executive management levels.

He has held many leadership roles. A few are Executive Director, Corporate & Institutional Banking at Barclays Bank Ghana Limited (now ABSA Bank Ghana Limited) and Head of Institutional Banking Group at Ecobank Ghana.

He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He also has a major in  Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon. He is an old student of St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast.

Wanting to become a world-class bank with proactiveness in solving client needs.The Board firmly believes that Mr. John Kofi Adomako’s international leadership experience and expertise in global financial markets will be invaluable to the success of the Bank’s transformation.

Sharing his views on his appointment, Mr John Kofi Adomako said: “I am greatly honoured and excited to be joining GCB Bank at this time to contribute to the transformation agenda and lead the bank to dominate the market.

GCB Bank has a large clientele and strong balance sheet which uniquely positions it as a strong and formidable Ghanaian bank providing support to businesses and individuals.

The Board is hopeful he will move the bank to the promised Land as envisaged.
