E.U Ambassadors Visit Former President, Mahama

The European Union (EU) Ambassadors have paid a courtesy call on former President, John Dramani Mahama.

This visit took place on  Monday in Accra. Mr. Mahama is the Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mrs. Diana Acconcia  who serves as the head of the EU delegation led the delegation to the former president.

This visit is part of the delegation’s  pre-election monitoring event in Ghana.

The delegation had the likes of Mr. Christoph Retzlaff, German Ambassador to Ghana; Madam Daniela d’Orlandi, Italian Ambassador to Ghana, and Madam Anne Sophie Avé, French Ambassador to Ghana.

They  discussions about the political situation in Ghana and preparations towards the December 7 elections .

Mr. Mahama was pleased with the delegation for their visit and expressed his view on the fact that the EU is an important partner to Ghana. He said this election will consolidate Ghana’s democracy after the Covid-19 pandemic.

He praised the EU for the show of interest in Ghana. He said the NDC had issues pertaining to some of the EC’s processes.

He talked of how presidential nominations were filed with the EC using a provisional register. Something that has never happened before in the history of Ghana.

Mrs Acconcia and the delegation appealed to the NDC and all political parties concerned to ensure that peace prevails before and after the Elections.
